With this issue of the JCEM, I am pleased to announce a new section devoted to cardiovascular endocrinology. John Baxter, President of The Endocrine Society, has made this subject the theme of the 2003 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, this June. Traditionally, The Endocrine Society Journals support The Endocrine Society President by devoting part of the June issue to the theme of the meeting. In recognition of the importance of this topic and our hope to stimulate interest on a lasting basis, the JCEM is pleased to announce a new series of articles that will appear throughout the year. In the special features section, articles will appear under a separate heading, Cardiovascular Endocrinology. Authors of these special feature articles were invited by the Editors, and the papers were peer reviewed. In 2003, we expect to publish over 20 articles in this section. We also will be emphasizing original articles in cardiovascular endocrinology this year by devoting a special section to it in the June issue. By emphasizing this theme, we hope to rekindle interest in this important area of endocrinology and define it better for the field.
