We reported the association of a polymorphism of the cyclooxygenase 2 gene with an increased risk of lung cancer. We subsequently realized that we had made an error in reporting the names of the alleles of our genotyping. We have traced this discrepancy to incorrect labelling of the genotyping data for the COX2.8473 TaqMan assay. Consequently, the designations COX2.8473 T and COX2.8473 C were reversed in the text and Tables 1 and 3. We have now verified the proper identifications by forward and reverse resequencing of five samples homozygous for the common allele and five homozygous for the rare allele. Our data and analysis remain otherwise unchanged.
