Venepuncture as an antiarrhythmic

Editor—I have followed with interest the correspondence on propofol as an antiarrhythmic.1 I recently prepared to anaesthetize a patient in atrial fibrillation for direct current cardioversion. After a brief explanation of the anaesthetic and having drawn up the propofol, an i.v. cannula was inserted in a vein on the dorsum of the hand. The patient reverted to sinus rhythm before the administration of any propofol. Was this a case of venepuncture as an antiarrhythmic, or yet another (hitherto unpublished) effect of propofol?
