I also strongly recommend reading Caitlin Dewey’s “How Google’s Bad Data Wiped a Neighborhood off the Map” (OneZero, 5/14/2019). It is a fascinating account of how data collection and dissemination pipelines can have major real-world impacts, and I could literally spend an entire lecture dissecting this one case study.
